Yoga at School
Recently the President of the Gentiloni Council reiterated the importance and the possibility of inserting the theme of yoga in Italian schools, both as a subject and as a curricular or extracurricular activity. Public schools, starting from kindergartens to finishing in high schools.
In schools it is expected that yoga initiatives can be launched by entrusting this teaching to highly qualified people.
YOGA SPACE is an internationally certified yoga school with certified teachers. Yoga Alliance and Yani are the major awards in the world and in Italy we can boast.
Experiences confirm that yoga is:
- able to harmonize the many aspects of the students' personality;
- allow the development of logical-rational faculties, in a holistic approach;
- the consciousness of one's body and of oneself;
- the discovery and use of breathing;
- the recognition and rebalancing of one's emotions.
Yoga as an educational project, where it was introduced, has shown how the transmission and experimentation in the classroom of the exercises and techniques learned, have created that atmosphere of coexistence and learning based not so much on a corrective intervention to stem the discomfort, but above all on the construction active and aware of knowledge and well-being.
These acquisitions have also become an expression of an experience of peace, no longer experienced as intention and good will, but action.

THE YOGA PROJECT AT SCHOOL
Children and adolescents need to alternate moments of exchange with the outside world and moments of self-research in order to be able to better face their evolutionary stages.
In this delicate path we need to create a balance that allows them to build, consolidate and bring order to that enormous quantity of experiences that will make them adults.
Yoga can be inserted into the school as a path to support the educational process because of its fundamental characteristic of being itself an educational and training tool.
It is important to be able to provide children and young people with all the tools that can help them juggle the many stimuli and changes in their age.
This increased awareness will help them manage and overcome the situations of distress and tension that each of them will encounter in a different way.
Yoga aims precisely at the realization of this psycho-physical well-being.
THE COURSE
Recipients
Children and teenagers: from 3 to 5 years, from 6 to 10 years, from 11 to 13 years
The collaboration of the teacher team is required.
spaces
Classrooms without counters for psychomotor or gym
Materials
• Comfortable clothes
• Anti-slip socks
Period of performance
The course can be inserted at any time during the school year.
The proposal is for a course of 6/10/20 meetings lasting 60 minutes, on a weekly basis.
Purposes
• become aware of your body
• experiment with new ways of relating to others
• stimulate psycho-physical well-being
• acquire self-esteem and discipline
Targets
• Develop greater awareness of your body
Through yoga, balance, coordination, flexibility, agility and endurance are improved. Benefits are given to the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine systems, to the immune system, and to the central and peripheral nervous system.
• Discover the strength of the breath to help them channel their energies towards attention and concentration
Yoga meetings are opportunities to stop, breathe and rediscover the calm and serenity necessary to grasp the importance of school as an educational environment, where to learn to use tools that will allow you to read and re-elaborate information in a critical and free way ("if they are concentrated I understand more ")
• Activate visualization exercises, relaxation in a simple and playful way
Children and young people are guided to inner listening and to the recognition of certain emotions / feelings and their main manifestations. We will propose simple techniques of relaxation and management of fear or anger to be used in schools and extra-scholastic.
• Strengthen the sense of belonging to the group
Through exercises and techniques, children and young people experience the acceptance of others in their individuality; "The other as different from me", but indispensable, to realize a common project.
Methodology
• games
• asanas (easy positions that recall animals and elements of nature)
• breathing exercises
• concentration and relaxation exercises
progress
The theme of the proposed practices will always be the game and the story.
The playful aspect and the lightness are fundamental in the approach with children and young people. The introduction of Yoga in the school allows to undertake a path that, through play, experimentation, creativity and fun, will bring children and young people to discovery of oneself and others in a climate of trust, mutual respect and collaboration.
Moreover, through brief moments of listening, the opportunity is created to recharge, discover one's inner resources and dedicate oneself to the activities that will follow with greater energy and enthusiasm.
The result of the course will not be judged, there will be no right or wrong result, the focus will be on inner listening, thus activating a mechanism for self-assessment of one's own limits and possibilities, bypassing competitiveness
